Hating People That Remind Us Of Our Wrong Choice
1 John 3:12. Because of our sin nature, we have a tendency to make wrong choices and not serve God. In our heart of hearts we know we make wrong choices, and that the end result of our bad choices is death and destruction. We know that sex out of marriage is wrong and God is not pleased with our actions. We know that our selfish actions hurt others and makes enemies. We know that our self-pride in our body is just temporary, and our bodies will one day wither and go back into the dust. The bottom line is that we desire short-term pleasures from the sins that we place above God. We want to enjoy our sinful ways, but do not want to be reminded that our sinful choices will result in our death and destruction. When we are in sin we become resentful of people that reminds us of the dire consequences of our adultery, overeating, hatefulness, self-pride, etc. We can get right hateful of someone that is righteous and tells us or reminds us of the truth and the consequences of our sin (1 John 3:12, "...Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.").
