Summary of 1 John 4. 1 John 4 tells us of God's perfect love. God loved us first. Because God loves us, He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save us. God's love is "agape" love which is defined as unmerited favor. If you love God and your fellowman the way God loves you, you are born of God.
