The Holy Spirit in Us Keeps Us From Spiritual Death

1st John 4:13. When we are separated from God, we experience spiritual death. By receiving the Holy Spirit into our hearts, we are no longer separated from God because the Holy Spirit is God, God’s spirit. Though we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, there is a way for the Holy Spirit to reside in us. The way is through Jesus Christ. If we repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our savior, we can receive God’s spirit in us. Christ is the only way that we can receive God’s spirit , escape spiritual death, and be reconciled back to God.

1st John 4:13 tells us that we know we are reconciled back to God, when his Spirit resides in us. 1st John 4:13 says, “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit”. When God’s spirit dwells in us we know we are no longer separated from God. Christ is the one who enabled us to escape spiritual death and receive eternal life. We are no longer spiritually dead because of our sin. By accepting Jesus Christ as our savior, our sins are forgiven. We now “dwell in him, and he in us”. We are no longer spiritually dead because we have received God’s spirit and no longer separated from him.
