Definition of Christian Redemption – We Must Be Born Again Spiritually

1 Peter 1:23. The definition of Christian redemption includes being born again. Jesus paid the ransom and took on the punishment for our sin so that we can be saved. But we still have to accept this free gift that Jesus gave to us. We have to believe in Him and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. This is the only way that we will not perish in our own corruptible sins, but have everlasting life (John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”). 1^st Peter 1:18-23 goes on to describe the redemptive power of the cross and us being born again with an incorruptible spirit (1 Peter 1:18-23, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever”).
