1st Peter 3 Bible Commentary - Honor Each Other
1st Peter > 1st Peter 3 Summary. Wives be subject to your husbands. Let your adorning be the hidden man of the heart. Husbands give honor to your wives. Finally, be of one mind, having compassion for one another, and love each other as brethren. Do no evil. Do good. The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous. Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Have a good conscience. It is better if the will of God be so that you suffer for well doing, and not for evil doing. Jesus sits on the right hand of God, and all powers and authorities are subject to him. See below for Biblical advice and commentary concerning 1 Peter 3.
1 Peter 3 Biblical Advice and Commentary
1 Pet 3:18: The Messiah Being a Sacrificial Offering for Man’s Sin. This Messianic doctrine was proclaimed in Isaiah 53:10 more than 700 years before the birth of Jesus (35 Doctrines First Proclaimed in Isaiah 52-53).
1 Peter 3 Scriptures
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
