Sin Unto Death
1 John 3:14, 15 says, "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." When John spoke these words he was talking to fellow believers. He was saying that we were all on the path of death because of our sin nature. Then because we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are now on the path of eternal life. According to the scripture the evidence that you are on the path of eternal life is "...because we love the brethren." Then the scripture goes on to say that if you hate your brother you are on the path of death, sin unto death. If you make the bad choice to hate your neighbor, you are not on the path of eternal life.
