2nd Timothy
Sanctification – Seek God's Honor
2 Timothy 2:20. To be sanctified, we must have a desire to be sanctified and set aside for God's use. We must have a desire in our heart to be honored by God. God loves us all, but He does not honor us all.
Sanctification – Avoid False teachers and Seek God Directly
2 Timothy 2:17. We must be aware that false teachers can cause conflict in our lives and lead us away from God. God desires for all us to be sanctified, set aside for His own use, but this cannot happen if we are led astray by false teachers.
Sanctification – Avoid Profane and Vain Babbling
2 Timothy 2:16. Sanctification, to be set aside for God's use, requires us to be purged of many things. One of those things is to avoid profane language and avoid idle chatter.
Sanctification - Avoid False doctrines that destroy the faith
2 timothy 2:14. As part of being sanctified and set aside for God's use, we must guard ourselves and others from false doctrines that can subvert the faith.
Sanctification – Overcoming Unbelief
2 timothy 2:13. Sanctification is a process for overcoming unbelief in God. Sanctification is also a process for putting our belief into action. Sanctification is a spiritual process where we supersede our physical five senses to come into a closer relationship with a supernatural God. To be sanctified is to be set aside for God.
Sanctification – Endure in Faith and Do Not Backslide
2 Timothy 2:12. Sanctification, being set aside for God's use, is an endurance exercise where we are only able to continue because of our faith in God. 2 Timothy 2:12 says, “If we suffer, we shall also reign with him, if we deny him, he also will deny us:”. Paul is providing us a faithful saying in 2 Timothy that if we endure in our faith, we will reign with God.
Sanctification – Being A Soldier of God
2 Timothy 2:4. The Bible describes a sanctified person as a soldier in the army. Sanctification is a process where a person is purified of sin and set aside for God's use. Sanctification is a disciplined lifestyle, a soldier's lifestyle.
Passion for Life Comes From Fulfilling God's Purpose
2 Timothy 2:21. A passion for life comes from fulfilling your purpose in life. Because God is your Creator, seek Him to find your purpose and passion in life. Because most of us do not seek God nor His purpose for our lives, we become dishearten, dispressed, self-destructive, bored, tired, double-minded, and aimless when going about our daily activities.
The Bible Says That God is My Judge
2 Timothy 4:1. The Bible tells us that God is our ultimate judge. He will judge us according to the relationship that we have with Him. He will judge us based on our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The question is did we put our faith in action, or did we reject the message of Jesus Christ? Did we ignore God and His message of salvation for us?
Continuing Grace comes not from our works but from Jesus
2 Timothy 1:9. It is easy to be deceived that our good works will take care of all things to include our eternal salvation. This is faulty thinking because God is our Creator and ultimately we are governed by His purpose and saved by His grace and not by our works. It is our faith and love in our Lord Jesus Christ that assures us of continuing grace and eternal salvation.
