Devotional: God Has Made Us All Stewards to Have Dominion Over the Works of God
GOD HAS MADE US ALL STEWARDS TO HAVE DOMINION OVER THE WORKS OF GOD
A Biblical definition of stewardship is “having dominion over the works of God”. This definition comes from Psalm 8:6 which says, “Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou has put all things under his feet;”. This scripture affirms that God is the Creator of all things, and he has given mankind dominion over his creation. The works of God’s hands includes all the material things and creatures of the Earth. We as stewards are not the owners of these things, but we are the stewards who have dominion of these things.

We are all stewards and have dominion of God’s creation whether we accept this or not. God has honored us and has given us great responsibilities. As stewards of God’s property, we have a responsibility to care and nurture the things that are of God. If we are good stewards, we show we are faithful to God and he does reward us. If we are bad stewards, we show that we are unfaithful and only have allegiance to our own selfish desires. As bad stewards, we may have dominion of God’s resources, but it will not end well.
