Without the Love of God You Cannot Understand and Act on Prophecy
Deuteronomy 13:3. Only if you love God with all your heart, body, and soul, will you understand true prophecy. Many people may prophesy great and wondrous things about the future, but not all prophesies are from God. Deuteronomy 13:3 says, “Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Only if we love God, will we seek after Him and know His prophecies.
Many people, both preachers and non-preachers, prophesy to us telling us if we do this and that, all these wondrous things will happen to us (lose weight, get rich, go to heaven, and so on). Many of these "feel good" messages do not come from God. When we hear these types of “feel good” messages, this is when God looks at our heart to see if we will forsake Him for these other gods or idols. In these situations, God is proving us. God loves us, and wants to know if we love Him. If we truly love Him, we will understand and act on His prophecies, and we will not follow doctrines and prophecies that are not of God.
