Loving Money and Overabundance Will Take Away Your Peace of Mind
Ecclesiastes 5:12. For those that love money above all else, they will have no peace in life. God desires to bless us financially, but only if we work hard and put spiritual things above money. Ecclesiastes 5:12 says, “The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep”. If we are looking for contentment in life, we will not find it in the accumulation of wealth. It is the labor that we expend to create wealth that really brings us peace whether the end result of our work is a little money or a lot of money.
We need to look to the reason for us loving money. We may say that we love money because we want to provide for our families or want to have the good things in life. Money can provide these things as well as all of our material needs, but money will not provide for our spiritual needs. Only by us putting God first in our lives will we really be content. Loving money for its own sake is just unbridled lust that perverts God’s purpose for our lives, and ends in our own destruction.
