To Live Together Before Marriage is Fornication

Ephesians 5:3. Fornication may seem like a harsh word to describe the act of two people living together before marriage, but it is the truth. A common definition of fornication is “voluntary sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons or two persons not married to each other”. This definition makes fornication and living together seem like something that is not that bad. The trouble with both fornication and living together is that it is more than just something that is voluntary and that feels good. Fornication is also the enemy of marriage. A more precise definition of fornication and living together is it is “extramarital sex that willfully and maliciously interferes with marriage relations;”. This is why living together before marriage is bad. Fornication is at complete odds with marriage. Fornication is a sinful act versus marriage is a godly relationship. Fornication is a temporary event versus marriage is an eternal commitment. Fornication is an unclean act that easily spreads to many partners versus marriage is a pure relationship with one partner. If you truly desire to have a relationship with God, do not have sexual relationships with persons outside of marriage.
