Lazy People are Prideful People
Ezekiel 16:49. The Bible tells us that prideful people are lazy people. In Ezekiel 16:49, God says, “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.” Here God is talking about the city of Sodom. The inhabitants of this city had become prideful. They had more than they needed and because of their self-sufficiency and abundance they became prideful with no need of God.
In today's society, many of us have become prideful and lazy in our “abundance of idleness”. All of our time is taken up in watching TV, playing video games, on the internet, doing drugs, and doing our hearts desire regardless of what God would have us do. Living off our wealth, we are prideful and lazy and do not have time for others or God. From God's perspective we are in sin when we are prideful or lazy. God desires for us to look to Him for our needs and wants, and not rely upon our prideful self. Also as good stewards, God desires for us not to be lazy and wasteful. He desires for us to use our abundance to give to others that are truly in need.
