Adam's Good Excuse to Sin Against God
Genesis 3:12. It is part of our human nature to come up with a good excuse when we are accused of something. The problem with a good excuse is that it does not cover up our wrong-doing when we have sinned against God. Humans started giving excuses to God from the beginning in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis 3:11, God asked Adam what had happened to him because now Adam was ashamed before God (naked). God knew that Adam and Eve had eaten the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God had previously told them not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge. Adam's excuse for disobeying God was to blame Eve. Genesis 3:12 says, “And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat”.
When we are wrong with God, we can not cover up our sin with a good excuse. Only Jesus can cover our sins before God. Blaming others for our sin is no excuse because no one can make us sin against God. It is always our choice to sin against God as it was Adam's choice to eat of the Tree of Knowledge in disobedience of God.
GENESIS 3 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Genesis 3:12, “And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.”
