Define Deceit – The Controlling Influence of Deceit

Genesis 3:4. When we define deceit it includes telling a lie to someone to get something. This is what happened when Satan deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden concerning eating the fruit of the tree. The serpent brought doubt to Eve in saying, “Ye shall not surely die:” even though God had told Adam and Eve clearly in Genesis 2:17 that “…thou shalt surely die.” In this case the serpent deceived Eve. Satan did this in order to make Adam and Eve followers of him (Genesis 3:3-4, “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: “).
