God's Anger Curses the Sinful and the Unfruitful
Matthew 21:19. God does not get angry often, but when He does it is direct and to the point. God gets most angry with people that are disobedient to Him and that our unfruitful in their lives. All God's creation were made for a purpose. When God's creation is not fulfilling the purpose that God intended, God gets angry.
God's anger with the unfruitful can be best illustrated with the story of Jesus and the fig tree. Matthew 21:19 says, “And when he saw the fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.” Here it came to Jesus' attention that the fig tree was not being fruitful. The fig tree was created to bear fruit, but this fig tree with all the leaves had no figs. The tree was not fulfilling its purpose. Jesus' reaction was to curse the tree. As soon as the tree was cursed, it withered away.
We must take the lesson of the fig tree, and seek God's guidance for our lives. God has given us all a purpose in our lives. It is our job to find that purpose and fulfill it. Without God's purpose in our lives, we will be unfruitful and eventually feel the full force of God's wrath.
