Trusting Yourself Versus Trusting God
Proverbs 3:5. God's plan is for us to trust completely in Him for all of our needs. This is the Christian definition of trust. He desires us to continually acknowledge Him and stay in close fellowship in Him. When we go against His plan and trust solely in our own understanding (be self-centered), God considers our self-centered actions wicked. Because God is a righteous God, he must separate himself from wickedness. To avoid separation from God we must put His wisdom above ours and stop being self-centered. We must believe and trust that the only way to do things is through Jesus Christ, our Savior. To have a close relationship with God, we must act out on His wisdom and take the paths that He directs (Proverbs 3:5-7, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.").
