Signs of Lacking Good Values

Romans 1:31. From a Christian perspective, good values are valuing the things of God. Things of God are spiritual things such as love, truth, righteousness, and goodness to name a few. When we love material things over the things of God, we are lacking in good values. Having material things is not a bad thing. It is when material things become our obsession, our only love. Romans 1:31 tells us of the signs of lacking good values. Romans 1:31 says that the lovers of material things are “Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:”. These are the signs of lacking good values. First, a person that has only love for material things can not understand the things of God. They think that religion is foolish and makes no sense. Second, another sign of a person that lacks good values is that they are not morally bound by any agreement (covenant breaker). They will lie, cheat, and steal to obtain the object of their desire. Third, a person obsessed with material things and sensual pleasures will try anything once. They are without natural affection, willing to experiment with different sexual partners and same-sex partners. Forth, a lover of material things is implacable, not willing or able to compromise when it comes to fulfilling their unbridled lusts. Fifth, they are obsessed with material things to such a degree that they are unmerciful with anyone that gets between them and the objects of their desires. These are all signs of lacking the good values that come from God.
