Definition of Christian Redemption – The Old Man is Dead

Romans 6:6. The first part of the definition of Christian redemption is that redemption is the end, the death, to the controlling power of sin in our lives. Our lives no longer need to be controlled by sin. If we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and Savior, our old man, our corruptible sin nature, is crucified with him. Jesus’ death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection proved that sin and death do not have control of us. Jesus’ act on the cross provides everything we need for redemption (Romans 6:6, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”). Jesus’ redemptive act on the cross allows up to break loose of sin letting the spiritual old man die, and for us to be a new incorruptible spiritual man reconciled back with God.

ROMANS 6 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Romans 6:6, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
