To be a born again Christian you need to have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. When you are in Jesus you are a new creature. You are no longer a slave of sin doing things the way you have done things in the past. With Christ, you now do things that conform to His lordship and you are no longer controlled by your sin nature. You are a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”).

Everyday a born again Christian must take on the mind of Christ and surrender completely to God. Everyday he uses the Bible and Jesus’ example to become more like Christ. As a new man, a born again Christian stays in continue relationship and knowledge of God (Colossians 3:10, “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:”).

As a new man, a born again Christian is created in righteousness and holiness. Through Christ the new man now has relationship with God. Jesus has taken on the punishment for our sins so that we can renew our relationship with God that was lost with Adam and Eve. Being in relationship with God also means that we are now in righteousness and set aside for Him only in holiness (Ephesians 4:24, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness“).

A born again Christian is born of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. When we first accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God’s Holy Spirit enters us. When we are born again we now have God’s incorruptible seed in us. If we will completely surrender to God everyday, God’s word will live and abide in us forever (1 Peter 1:23, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever”).
