Bible Summary. Diligence enable us to exercise our Christian faith to achieve God’s purpose in our lives. True faith gives us the diligence and the resolve to live a Christian life that is full of righteousness and love. Our Christian diligence is our proof that we love God. Diligence gives us the assurance of our Christian calling and election. If we have diligence, God will continue to reward us and give us increase. From Faith To Christian Diligence.
Diligence is a key attribute for being a Christian. Christian diligence starts with faith and it is ultimately manifested in love. God has provided us His Word and it is only through Christian diligence that we can fulfill His purpose in our lives. 2nd Peter 1:5 advises us on the importance of diligence in maturing in Christ.
2nd Peter 1:5, “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;”
Keeping Diligence Over Your Heart.
Faith enables us to surrender our trust completely to God. Our Christian diligence to do good (versus evil) is the ultimate exercise of our faith to show our love and trust of God. Proverbs 4:23 advises us to keep diligent over your heart.
Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Christian Diligence Assures That You Will Fulfill Your Calling.
Faith is easy thing to say we have, but faith is not fulfilled until we exercise it. This is done only through Christian diligence. It is faith and our day-to-day diligence that assures our calling and election. 2nd Peter 1:10 tells us that Christian diligence will assure that we fulfill our calling.
2nd Peter 1:10, “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”
Christian Diligence – God Rewards the Industrious.
Jesus’ story of the five golden talents is a good example of Christian diligence. The parable illustrates how we should be industrious with the talents that God provides us. If we are faithful in our good works, God will continue to give us increase for the building of His Kingdom. Matthew 25:21 tells us of God rewarding the industrious, and Matthew 25:29 tells us of God not rewarding the slothful.
Matthew 25:21, “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord”
Matthew 25:29, “For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath”.
Examples of Values – Christian Diligence.
The parable of the Ten Virgins provides us several examples of how important is for Christians to be diligent in their faith. Christian diligence is where a Christian exercises their faith in a wise, consistent, and earnest effort. Diligent Christians believe God’s promises and act accordingly in a wise and watchful manner. . Matthew 25:13 tells us to keep diligent as we know not what the future will bring.
Matthew 25:13, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”
