Christian Stewardship: Faithful Stewards of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christian stewardship at its essence is being faithful stewards of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christians, God has given us the gospel of Jesus Christ. With this gift of knowledge comes responsibility to faithfully live and communicate these great truths to others. 1st Corinthians 4:1 advises us to be stewards of the mysteries of God.
1st Corinthians 4:1, “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.”
Christian Stewardship: Being a Leader, But a Servant First.
A key component of Christian stewardship is being a spiritual leader. A spiritual leader is one who serves others, and not one who is served by other. As a Christian steward we are not to create strife by trying to be greater than others. Matthew 20:26 advises us that to be great in God’s eyes we must minister to others.
Matthew 20:26, “But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister:”
Christian Stewardship: Follow Christ Wherever He May Take Us.
Christian stewardship at its essence is being a diligent follower of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we obtain the gift of salvation as well as put on the mantle of Christian stewardship. We have accepted Jesus as our Lord, and we are to be his faithful stewards. John 12:26 advises us that to serve Jesus we must follow him whereever he may go.
John 12:26, “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
Christian Stewardship: Do Good Works to Glorify God, Not to Glorify Man.
The ultimate purpose of Christian stewardship is to glorify God. As Christian stewards, we are to do good works for one purpose and that is to glorify God. God is the object of our stewardship. Colossians 3:23 advises us that we are to do good for God’s glory and not man’s.
Colossians 3:23. “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Christian Stewardship: Knows that God is the Master and Acts Accordingly.
Where there is a servant or a steward, there is also a master. Christian stewardship consists of we being the stewards and God being the master. We are stewards over the things and resources that God has given us. As Christian stewards we do not do as we please, nor do we follow the whim or fancy of our fellow man. God is our master, and we are to act accordingly. Isaiah 1:3 advises us man’s rebellion of not knowing nor serving God, their master.
Isaiah 1:3, “The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib” but Israel donth not know, my people doth not consider.”
