The illustration of the The By-Whiskey Speech - A Misleading Equivocation provides us a great example of how lies and deceptions can easily be taken as truth. Equivocation is a word seldom heard in our society, but it is practiced frequently by politicians and persons in authority who have no moral compass.

REDEEMED, BUT STILL DECEIVED

James 5:4. The Bible tells us to love our fellow man. This is not possible when we are corrupted by the love of money. The love of money compels us to take advantage of our neighbor at every turn. An example of this is between employee and employer.

Galatians 6:7. The final law of sowing and reaping is that there is no escape from the laws of sowing and reaping. The laws of sowing and reaping are immutable much like the laws of gravity. If we sow little, we will always reap little. If we sow in kind, we will reap in kind. Whatever we sow, a little or a lot, we will always reap more. If we sow good things, we will reap good things.

Romans 1:22. We can be great debaters and think ourselves wise, but without God we are fools. God is the source of all knowledge and truth. He is the one that reveals knowledge to us. We can only accumulate and store knowledge. People deceive themselves and others when they think they are the source of wisdom.

Romans 7:11. Keeping your sins secret only compounds your problems. God did not give you knowledge of sin just so you could keep your sins secret. Sins unconfessed end up rotting you from the inside out and will eventually lead to death (Romans 7:11, “For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me”).
