Deception
Trust Definition - Trust Truth, Not Lies
Isaiah 59:4. The definition of trust is the "reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, and surety of a person or thing". Another way to say this is that trust is all about relying on the promise of what another person or thing can do (what you think they can do). The issue with trust is that people will mistake a promise for a truth. Just because you trust in someone's honesty does not make them honest.
Sowing in Righteousness – You Get What You Give
Proverbs 11:18. The right way for us to live in this world is to sow in righteousness. We must strive to do what pleases God. Our flesh looks for the quick fix and does not desire to seek God as to what to do in our daily lives. Following our flesh results in deceitful works where we may fool the world and ourselves, but our seemingly good works do not please God. Our works that are not God centered bring destruction instead of reward. If you sow and do good works in righteous, you will get what you give.
Say The Right Thing But Do The Wrong Thing
1 John 2:4. So many people will say they are a Christian or they attend church regularly, but in reality they continue to make wrong choices about the way they live their lives. Many of us continue to place things above God such as sex outside of marriage, love of money, self-pride, and much more. We will continue to do things that do not please God, and we will continue to say we love God and that we know him. 1 John 2:4 says, "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
All Miracles Are Not God's Miracles
Matthew 24:24. Not all miracles come from God. God is all powerful, but not all miracles come from God. There are people that are not of God that can perform signs and wonders (Matthews 24:24, "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders..."). Though the ungodly can have supernatural power, Christians have a stronger power.
God Will Bring You Down When You Are Full Of Yourself
Obadiah 1:3. God is not pleased when you are full of yourself. He promises you death and destruction when you are led by your pride. In the book of Obadiah, God judged the city of Edom as being full of pride and He brought utter destruction on the people of that city. Edom was a prosperous city perched on a high plateau protected on all sides except by one narrow entrance. They thought the were invincible, but they were utterly destroyed by God.
Fix A Bad Relationship By Avoiding Situations That Create Envy
1 Peter 2:1. In many relationships one or more parties is full of pride. Where one party is full of pride in a relationship, the other party is sure to be full of envy. These types of relationships are not good for either person. How do you fix a bad relationship like this?
Definition of Deception – Deception Leads Us Away From God
Proverbs 14:25. A Christian aspect of the definition of deception is that the act of deception leads us away from God. When we are being untruthful to ourselves or others, we are separated from God. Deception involves being a false witness and to be a false witness is a sin. God cannot be in the presence of sin. Lies and deceptions lead us away from God. Truth on the other hand delivers us from sin and brings us back into harmony with God (Proverbs 14:25, “A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies”).
Definition of Deception – No Good Works Are In Deception
Job 13:4. The definition of deception includes manufacturing in the eyes of someone that something is of value when it has no value. Examples of deception include changing your college transcripts to look better for a potential employer; giving money to the church for your own recognition instead of giving an offering to show God that you love Him; or pretending to be a doctor or minister when you do not have the capability to heal or minister to people.
Define Delusions – The Deluded Have No Love of Truth
2 Thessalonians 2:10. Another aspect when we define delusions is that someone that is deluded shows no love of truth. People may say they love God, but what are their actions. Our human nature desires to fulfill our flesh. Our fleshly desires corrupt our view of truth. Truth becomes relative versus something we seek. Our truth becomes, “if it feels good, do it.” We say, “everyone else believes it or does it, so it must be the true way.” A lover of truth seeks truth. If God sees that you do not love the truth, he will let you go your own way.
Define Delusions – Caught Up In Deceit We Refuse To Know God
Jeremiah 9:6. You can define delusions from a Christian perspective as getting so caught up in lies that we tell ourselves that we do not even realize we are rejecting God by believing those lies. We will start with little lies such as thinking that God is the God of love, but conveniently forgetting that he is also the God of righteousness. We will tell little, white lies to our neighbor to boost our prestige. We will develop habits of lying where we will make promises to others and ourselves that we know in our heart we will not keep. Just think of New Year’s resolutions.
