Define Righteousness As the Pursuit of Righteous Acts.
If we pursue actions and activities that line up with God, then this is a righteous way for a person to live their life. On the other hand, our righteous acts cannot make us righteous because we are not perfect in that it is in our nature to sin and fall short of the glory of God. Titus 3:5 advises us that we can do righteous things but it is only God’s mercy that puts us in right standing with God.
Titus 3:5, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”

Righteous is not of works. Galatians 2:21 advises us that our righteous does not come from doing good works or knowing God’s commandments, but only from Jesus.
Galatians 2:21, “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”

A person can be defined as righteousness if they possess God’s character as all righteousness comes and is given from God. God is the ultimate authority of what is right and wrong.
