Devil
Definition of Perfection - Perfection is Without Sin
The definition of perfection means "lacking nothing essential to the whole; complete of its nature or kind". From a Christian perspective this definition means that a person must not have sin or iniquity in him to be perfect. Sin is basically being disobedient to God. Only being obedient to God can you be perfect. Jesus is perfect. When Jesus walked on this Earth in human form He was without sin and perfect. The Bible describes angels as perfect. At one time Lucifer (Devil) was an angel and was perfect in God's eyes (he was not disobedient to God).
Without Truth In Your Life You Are Separated From God
You can know God, but still be separated from God. Besides knowing God, God expects you to act on His truth (Titus 1:16, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."). His central truth as proclaimed in the gospel of Jesus Christ is for you to love God and to love your neighbor (Mark 12:30-31). If you only do things based on your own likes and dislikes, you are not abiding in God's truth and you are separated from God.
Perseverance Is The Only Spiritual Warfare Weapon Required Against the Devil
By us putting on the whole armor of God, we can persevere through any lie, temptation, and deceit that the devil may throw at us (Ephesians 6:10-11, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil"). If we come in contact with a known liar in our every day life, how do we react to them?
Resistance Brings Defeat to The Devil In Spiritual Warfare
Victory in spiritual warfare comes from us submitting to God. If we totally surrender to God and put our faith in Him, we will have the spiritual power to resist the devil. We only have to resist the devil to defeat him. Once the devil sees that his craftiness and lies have no effect on us, he will flee from us (James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you").
JAMES 4 BIBLE SCRIPTURE James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
The Devil's Only Weapon in Spiritual Warfare is Trickery
The devil has no capability to do us direct harm. He can only do us harm by trickery. In Genesis 3:1 it says, "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field…". In the Garden of Eden the Devil did no direct harm to Adam and Eve. All he did was use his craftiness to confuse and tempt Adam and Eve to disobey God. Adam and Eve were not forced by the Devil to eat of the fruit. It was his craftiness that led them to sin. In Genesis 3:4, the devil only said, "…Ye shall not surely die", but in fact Adam and Eve would experience death if they ate of the tree. The devil in no way forced Adam and Eve to do anything. It was only through the Devil being subtle and changing the word of God that Adam and Eve fell defeated in sin.
The Power Of Darkness Is Made Manifest In Death
Hebrews 2:14. There is a power of darkness. It is made manifest by the power of sin and death. The scriptures tell us that the devil has the power of death ( Hebrews 2:14, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"). It is only through Jesus Christ that the devil is defeated at the cross. By Jesus Christ dying and then resurrecting forever, He defeated death.
The Power Of Belief Turns Us Away From The Power Of Darkness
Acts 26:18. It is natural for us to turn toward the light if our eyes are open, but many of us when it comes to God keep our eyes closed. This is what happens to many non-believers that continue in sin. They are not willing to open their eyes to the light of God and they stay within the power of Satan. They do not want to open up their eyes to God because then they would then be compelled to give up their sin. If we would just open up our eyes, we would see the light of God. Then the power of belief would move us toward the light of God and salvation.
Fixing A Broken Relationship With God Means Resisting The Devil
God has given us the power to resist the devil and his temptations. All we have to do is exercise that power when fixing a broken relationship with God. If we resist the devil, He will flee from us. If we draw close to God, He will draw close to us. We will be cleansed of all of our sin and be able to be in the presence of God (James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.")
Define Deceit – The Controlling Influence of Deceit
Genesis 3:4. When we define deceit it includes telling a lie to someone to get something. This is what happened when Satan deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden concerning eating the fruit of the tree. The serpent brought doubt to Eve in saying, “Ye shall not surely die:” even though God had told Adam and Eve clearly in Genesis 2:17 that “…thou shalt surely die.” In this case the serpent deceived Eve.
Christians Believe More Than There Is Just A God
Christians believe that there is one, true God and they worship one God. History demonstrates that all of mankind has a predisposition to worship a God or gods. Prior to the birth of the Jewish nation, many people worshiped many gods. Even with the birth of Christianity, people continued to worship many gods. Today with the spread of humanism and materialism, people continue to worship many "gods" or idols. In this case, the "gods" are physical objects (materialism) or people themselves (humanism).
