The Diligent Teacher – A Father Characteristic.

The Bible teaches us that a characteristic of a father is that he be a diligent teacher. Deuteronomy 6:7 advises parents to diligently teach their children in the ways of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:7, “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

The Faithful Provider – A Father Characteristic.

God has given fathers wisdom and ability to be providers for their families. All that fathers need to do is diligently seek god’s will and do what is right in the Lord. 1st Timothy 5:8 advises that men of faith shall be good providers for their family.

1st Timothy 5:8, “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

The Strong Leader – A Father Characteristic.

A father is like a skilled archer who gets better and better each day to become a more powerful archer. When a father is a strong leader, his children are like arrows that fly true and hit their mark in life. Psalm 127:4 advises how children are like arrows to a strong father.

Psalm 127:4, “As arrows are in the hand of a might man, so are children of the youth.”

The Nurturing Husbandman – A Father Characteristic.

A father is to nourish his children with wholesome discipline and encourage them to build a personal relationship with God and live a Christian life. Ephesians 6:4 advises fathers to nurture their children in the ways of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4, “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

The Fruitful Producer – A Father Characteristic.

Another characteristic of a father is to be a fruitful producer. An example of a father being a fruitful producer is Abraham. Genesis 17:6 tells of God’s promise to make Abraham exceedingly fruitful and the father of many nations.

Genesis 17:6, “And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.”
