Fear

Good Excuses For Denying God – God is Not Convenient

Acts 24:25. Many of us have good excuses for not fulfilling God's purpose in our lives. For us that our ambitious or prosperous the best excuse is that doing God's purpose in our lives is not convenient. This is what happened when Felix, the Roman Governor, met with the Apostle Paul and received God's Word. Felix listened to Paul's words concerning righteousness, temperance, and the judgment to come, but Felix did not act on God's Word.

Spiritual Perfection Is Love, Without Fear

1 John 4:18. From a Christian perspective, spiritual perfection is based on love - love of God and love of people. This perfect love is "agape" love and is defined as unmerited favor. This Godly love casts out the fear in our lives and leads the way for us to be spiritually perfect. God was the first to show us this perfect type of love and He desires for us to show this perfect love to Him and others. God is love and He is perfect. He desires for us to be the same way, too. If we truly believe that he loves us, we can confidently love others in this perfect love.

Alms Giving is an Acknowledgement of God

Acts 10:2. It is so easy for us to get caught up in our day-to-day activities and forget God. This is not how God desires for us to live. He desires us to acknowledge Him in all things. This can be done through prayer and meditation, but it is also done through our alms giving. By sacrificing something we hold valuable such as our money or our time, we are acknowledging that God is first in our lives. Being holy means being set aside for God.

Be Free From Strife Or You Will Get Bit

John 14:27. Many times you may not be the source of strife, but then you get caught up in it. Someone may be boasting, and then you start boasting. Someone attempts to take something of yours and then you take something of theirs. Someone hits you, you hit them back. Proverbs 26:17 says that participating in someone else's strife "...is like one that taketh a dog by the ears." You do not want to go there. When strife comes from others, consult God on how to respond. If we participate in these "dog eat dog" situations we will get bit.

Fear Nothing Because You Have God's Promises

Deuteronomy 31:6. When we have a relationship with God, we can rely on His promises. We can be strong and of good courage. We can fear nothing because God is with us, He will not fail us, nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6, "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee").

Fear Only God

Matthew 10:28. All of us have a tendency to fear things, worry over things, and to be anxious over the future. The Bible says for us not to be fearful of things "...which kill the body..." but be more fearful of God who can "...destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28). God is a jealous God. If you are being fearful of things not of God, you are telling God that these things are more awesome and powerful than He is in protecting you. Fear nothing, but God.

Face Death That Is Eternal

Revelations 21:8. The third type of death is Eternal death. Eternal death is eternal separation from God. If we have not accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will face death that is eternal on Judgment Day. Eternal death happens because man chooses sin (disobedience to God), and thus, we choose to be separated from God. Separation from God first starts off as spiritual death, but it will eventually turn to eternal death. This is the death we never want to face. We need to believe what the Bible says about eternal death.

Face Death From God's Perspective

Matthew 10:28. Death is not something we desire to talk about, much less face. From a Christian perspective death is something we need to fully understand and discussed in order to face death from the right perspective. We need to know what it is and what it is not. Most people are scared of death. Death and decay are so commonplace that no one examines what it is really like to face death until it is upon them. We must examine what it is like to face death from God's perspective. From God perspective it is not physical death that we should be fearful of facing.

Christians Believe Versus Fear

Mark 5:36. We tend to fear things that we cannot control or that are outside our five senses. For Christians we may fear God, but we believe in His promises first. Jesus is the Lord of peace (2 Thessalonians 3:16, "Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all"). Through His act on the cross Christians can have inner peace and assurance of eternal life. We do not have to fear anything because we have God on our side. God does not desire for us to be controlled by fear.

Christians Believe More Than There Is Just A God

James 2:19. Christians believe that there is one, true God and they worship one God. History demonstrates that all of mankind has a predisposition to worship a God or gods. Prior to the birth of the Jewish nation, many people worshiped many gods. Even with the birth of Christianity, people continued to worship many gods. Today with the spread of humanism and materialism, people continue to worship many "gods" or idols. In this case, the "gods" are physical objects (materialism) or people themselves (humanism).
