Foolish
What the Bible Says About Fools That Thinks Themselves to be Wise
Bible Summary. We can think ourselves wise, but without God we are fools. A person that trusts only himself to make good judgment is a fool and is not wise. Instead of seeking wisdom from God, a fool follows his heart that cannot discern truth from lies nor good from evil. Vanity and conceit make people think that they are wise, but the reality is that their conceit has made them a fool.
A Fool Thinks Himself Wise To Trust Only on Their Own Counsel
Proverbs 12:15. A person that trusts only himself to make good judgment is a fool and is not wise. God created us to rely on Him for His purposes. He is our moral compass who we should trust to make good decisions in life. Without a relationship with God, our Creator, we lose our direction.
A Fool and His Wisdom: Follows His Evil Desires Not Knowing the Consequences
Proverbs 14:16. Many a fool thinks he is wise. Instead of seeking wisdom from God, a fool follows his heart that cannot discern truth from lies nor good from evil. A fool who thinks himself wise has no moral compass. Without God, good and and evil becomes relative. The wisdom of the day becomes “if it feels good do it”.
A Fool: His Conceit Convinces Himself That He is Wise
Proverbs 26:12. Vanity and conceit make people think that they are wise, but the reality is that their conceit has made them a fool. When we are full of conceit and pride, we think we are wiser than other people and God. We are basically a know-it-all. As the definition of conceit says, we have an “unduly high opinion of ourselves”.
A Fool: A Person Without God Who Thinks Himself Wise
Romans 1:22. We can be great debaters and think ourselves wise, but without God we are fools. God is the source of all knowledge and truth. He is the one that reveals knowledge to us. We can only accumulate and store knowledge. People deceive themselves and others when they think they are the source of wisdom.
Control Anger by Hiding It Till Its Emotions Passes You By
Proverbs 12:16. All of us get angry. What is important is how do we control your anger. Not all anger is bad, but uncontrolled anger results in bad things. The Bible tells us that fools do not control their anger, but will act in anger whenever anger presents itself.
Stop Playing the Fool and Feeling Down
Proverbs 18:2. From God perspective, we are fools when we are not in relationship with him. It is when we realize that we are at odds with God that we start feeling down about our foolishness. One definition of a fool is “a person who has been tricked or deceived into appearing or acting silly or stupid”.
Imprudent Definition – Parable of the Ten Virgins
Matthew 25:3. The definition of imprudent is defined as “lacking forethought or caution; resulting from stupidity or misinformation”. The Bible parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins provides a good example of the definition of imprudence. In this parable the ten virgins were given the task of greeting the bridegroom as he arrived to the wedding late at night.
Examples of Values – New Man Versus Old Man
1 Corinthians 2:14. The Christian ideas of “New Man” and “Old Man” provides excellent examples of good and bad values. From a Christian perspective there are only two types of values: material or spiritual. The Old Man lives by material (natural) values.
Examples of Values – Range from Valuing Material Things to Spiritual Things
Luke 12:20. To understand the definition of values you need to have some examples of values. The parable of the rich fool in Luke 12 provides excellent examples of values. Basically, a value is a thing that someone values. The object of a value can range from material things to spiritual things. Material things include such things as food, money, cars, and houses to name a few.
Your Mouth Makes You A Fool When You Are Full Of Yourself
Proverbs 14:3. God says that you are a fool when you are full of pride (Proverbs 14:3, “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. Your mouth causes your downfall.”). You are basically deceiving yourself thinking that you are above God. God does not suffer fools or evil people gladly.
Definition of Deception – Hope In Temporary Things and Not In Things Eternal
Job 27:8. Another aspect of the definition of deception is that it is only temporary. A deception is only a deception until it is found out. It is temporary. On the other hand, truth is eternal. Many of us use deception to fool others as well as ourselves. Most of us put our hope in material things such as money, other people, or our own abilities.
