Bible Summary. Brotherly kindness and love comes from the Greek word “philadelphia”. It means kindness or friendship. Brotherly kindness and love are not acts that we do on special occasions. Revelation 19:10. Part of being a Christian brethren is to spread the testimony of Jesus Christ. In the book of Revelation an angel tells John (the author of Revelation) that he is a “ fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus”.

Matthew 12:50. Matthew 12:50 spells out the Christian definition of brethren. It says, “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother”. You are a Christian brethren if you voluntarily do the will of God. The Bible teaches us that God's will is for us is to freely accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Matthew 23:8. Christian brethren is not meant to be an exclusive club. If you are a Christian that does not make you better than anyone else. It only means that you have accepted Jesus' free offer for Him to be your Lord and Savior. Everyone can be a Christian brethren and receive eternal life.

Matthew 25:40. In Matthew 25 the Bible teaches us that Christian brethren are to treat everyone (strangers) with brotherly kindness. Christians are not an exclusive club where Christian brethren should treat fellow brethren with more kindness than strangers.

Micah 7:5. In human relationships, trust and love do not go together. This is evident from Department of Justice crime statistics where a large number of violent crimes are committed against love ones. For example, two-thirds of children under five are murdered by a close relative. 74 percent of women are robbed by someone they know. The Bible is clear; trust God and not man.
