Full Of Yourself? God Will Bring You Down
Full Of Yourself? You Have No Respect Of God
When you are full of yourself you have no room for God. Even if you know God, you will question His wisdom putting your knowledge above Him (Psalms 73:11, "And they say, how doth God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?"). This is what happened with Adam and Eve. They began to put their wisdom before God's wisdom when they decided to eat of the forbidden fruit. With the devil's urging they began to think they could be as wise as God. They started to focus on what satisfied their pride and not on pleasing or being obedient to God.
BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Psalms 73:11, "And they say, how doth God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?"
God Will Bring You Down When You Are Full Of Yourself
Obadiah 1:3. God is not pleased when you are full of yourself. He promises you death and destruction when you are led by your pride. In the book of Obadiah, God judged the city of Edom as being full of pride and He brought utter destruction on the people of that city. Edom was a prosperous city perched on a high plateau protected on all sides except by one narrow entrance. They thought the were invincible, but they were utterly destroyed by God. This city boasted in its day, "Who shall bring me down to the ground?" (Obadiah 3-4, "The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD"). The answer is God. Today is our mouth saying, "I'm grown, I can do what I want; You can't touch this; or I'm bad?" God will bring you down when you are full of yourself.
BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Obadiah 1:3, "The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?"
Your Mouth Makes You A Fool When You Are Full Of Yourself
God says that you are a fool when you are full of pride (Proverbs 14:3, “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. Your mouth causes your downfall.”). You are basically deceiving yourself thinking that you are above God. God does not suffer fools or evil people gladly. Through your boasting, you reveal to God and man what is in your heart. Your mouth reveals that you believe you are above God. By boasting of yourself, you do not acknowledge Him. How can anyone say they are greater than their Creator? You cannot say you created your wisdom, your strength, your beauty, or your riches. Only God can say He created this world and everything in it.
BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 14:3, “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. Your mouth causes your downfall.”
