Bible Summary. There are many examples of human weakness. David gives us an example of human weakness when he temporary lost his purpose that led him to adultery with Bathsheba and eventually murder of her husband. Wealth can be a human weakness if we let it control us. Another example of human weakness is our physical weakness. We may have good intentions to do something, but our body will give up on us. When we lust and are controlled by material things, we become moral weaklings that have no eternal security, no purpose, and no foundation for good living. Examples of Human Weakness: Not Fulfilling Your Purpose.
David gives us an example of human weakness that led him to adultery with Bathsheba and eventually murder of her husband. David’s weakness that led to these sins was that that he was not fulfilling God’s purpose. 2nd Samuel 11:1 tells us how David tarried in Jerusalem when he as king should have been in battle with his army.
2nd Samuel 11:1, “And it came to past, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. More”
Examples of Human Weakness: The Obsession of Wealth and Abundance.
Letting money and wealth control us is an example of human weakness. Wealth in itself is not bad. It is how we think about it and what we do with it. 1st Timothy 6:9 tells us that if we let wealth control us, it will quickly lead us from temptation, to sin, to foolishness.
1st Timothy 6:9, “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.”
Examples of Human Weakness: Our Flesh is Weak.
One example of human weakness is our physical weakness. We may have good intentions to do something, but our body will give up on us. This is what happened to Peter, James, and John in the garden of Gethsemane. Mark 14:38 gives us an example of human weakness where Jesus told his disciples the first of three time to keep watch for Him and not be tempted by the weakness of their flesh and fall asleep.
Mark 14:38, “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. More”
Examples of Human Weakness: Our Lust.
The prime example of human weakness is the lust that is inside ourselves. When we lust, we have lost our moral fortitude. When we lust and are controlled by material things, we become moral weaklings that have no eternal security, no purpose, and no foundation for good living. James 1:14 advises us that every person is tempted and can easily be enticed by their own lusts.
James 1:14, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. More”
