How To Trust - Trust God's Word

Isaiah 30:12. When we ask how to trust someone, we really need to be asking how do we trust God. Every time we put our trust in man instead of God and His Word, we will be let down. In fact, when you are putting your trust in someone or something else, you are basically saying that you do not trust God. God as our creator tells us in His Word, the Bible, to trust Him. When we do not totally rely on Him, we are basically despising His Word. We are trusting in our own strength and diverting from God's purpose in our lives.

Definition of Perfection - Mankind Can Be Perfect in God

2 Corinthians 7:1. The definition of perfection includes "completely suited for a particular purpose - completely corresponding to a description, standard, or type". From a Christian perspective, this definition of perfection means that perfection is all about us being holy. God has made us for His purpose to be holy and worship Him. Through the Bible He has given us His promises and standards to guide us in our daily lives. His Bible teaches us how to be without sin (to be obedient). He desires for us to line up with His standards and to be perfect and holy.

Selfish Acts Reproduce More Selfish Acts

Selfishness is infectious. If one person is selfish and prideful, it is likely that they will incite others to be prideful and selfish. It one person boasts, another will be compelled to boast and tell tall tales. If one person is selfish, he will then entice others to follow his path. This happens with the drug addicts. They start taking drugs, and then they will get their friends hooked on drugs. This happens with adultery. If one person outside of marriage fulfills his sexual desires it is really two because his sexual partner is participating in the same act. Then these persons will more than likely have more sexual partners bringing them into the same self-indulgent sexual activities. God does not want us to indulge in our own selfish habits and play the harlot with others (Ezekiel 16:15, "But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was."). God desires us to have a loving relationship with Him with no selfish behavior. If we love God, we have the power to not be enticed by selfish acts of others and not get in a place of selfishness where we entice others to go against God.

Acting On Your Insatiable Desire Makes God Angry

When Israel had taken Jericho and Achan acted on his insatiable desire and took the gold and silver from Jericho, God's anger was raised against the entire camp of Israel. When Achan could not control his insatiable desire, he offended God. He had caused all of Israel to have a breach of faith with God (Joshua 7:1, "But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel")..

Definition of Adultery – It Comes From Within Our Own Heart

Matthew 5:28. The definition of adultery includes the characteristic that it comes from within and it is not caused by outside influences. Adultery is committed by two willing partners. One person in the relationship may have been the temptress or tempter, but the other person accepted the temptation. Adultery is always birthed from our own heart. If you do not have adultery in your heart, you will not commit adultery no matter what the temptation. God knows that adultery starts in the heart and he considers us adulterers when we even think about committing adultery.

Definition of Adultery – It is a Sin

2 Peter 2:14. The definition of adultery includes it being a sin in God’s eyes. Adultery is an unrighteous act. In no circumstances can it please God when you commit adultery. Adultery starts where you lust for someone that you are not married to. You are not pleasing to God when you are “girl watching” because this becomes a slippery slope that will lead to adultery. You are basically coveting someone else’s wife or daughter when you “girl watch”.

Adultery Defined

Deuteronomy 22:22. The basic definition of adultery is from Deuteronomy 22:22. Adultery is “…lying with a woman married to an husband…” Adultery is any time a married person has sex with someone outside the marriage. God considers adultery a sin and it is one of the ten commandments (Exodus 20:14, “Thou shalt not commit adultery”).

Coping With Adultery – They Do Not Know What They Do

One thing for you to remember when coping with adultery, is to realize that the adulterous marriage partner does not understand the full consequences of their actions. If they did, they would not have been tempted to commit adultery. An adulterer may not fully understand that his or her actions may very well destroy a marriage and family. The adulterer may not understand how God separates adulterers from His fellowship.

Coping With Adultery – A Last Alternative Is To Divorce

Matthew 5:32. According to the Bible divorce is an option if your marriage partner commits adultery (Matthew 5:31-32, "It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery”). At the same time divorce should be the last resort in a marriage, especially if the adulterer repents to God of their wrongdoings.

Dealing With Adultery – Realize You Are Dealing With Fire

Proverbs 6:29. Adultery is just like a kid playing with fire. Everyone in their heart of heart knows that adultery will not end well, but they are all caught up in the heat of the moment. With certainty adulterers will be burnt when they commit adultery. Everyone needs to realize that God will pronounce you guilty if you commit adultery (Proverbs 6:27-29, “Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
