Control Anger By Not Acting On It Immediately
Proverbs 14:29. Anger is not necessarily bad, but it does need to be controlled. Proverbs 14:29 says, “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” Whenever we get angry at someone or something, we need to look at the source of the anger.
Lazy People Think That They Have All the Answers
Proverbs 26:16. Lazy people do not seek God for direction in their lives, nor do they seek advice from others. Lazy people think that they have all the answers. Proverbs 26:16 says, "The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render reason".
The Bible Tells Us That the Diligent Are Wise
Matthew 25:4. The Bible parable of the Ten Virgins teaches us that the diligent are wise. In this parable the ten virgins were given the task of greeting the bridegroom as he arrived to the wedding late at night. To do this the virgins were to have lamps to light the way for the bridegroom. All of the ten virgins had lamps, but five were wise and five were foolish.
A Consumer Society Encourages Maximum Consumption With Little Time For God or Anyone Else
Proverbs 6:6. A consumer society encourage people to maximize their time consuming stuff. This stuff includes fast food, video games, TV, vacations, recreational drugs, recreational sex, and so on. All this consumption leaves little time for work, to help people, to encourage people, to add value to society, and no time for developing a relationship with God.
A Mother’s Love is Sometimes a Hard Love
Proverbs 29:15. It is natural for a mother’s love to be forgiving and not judging. At the same time a mother’s love should not just accept anything that a son or daughter does as OK. A mother must provide correction to her children when they are wrong. She still loves them, but she does have a responsibility to nurture and reproof a child.
Redemption Definition – It Is Through Sin We Became Followers Of Satan, Separated From God
Genesis 3:6. To be redeemed we first have to be lost, separated, and captive, be in slavery, and so on. In the case of the Christian redemption definition, we are separated from God and need redemption to be able to be reconciling back to God. But what separated us from God if He at one time called us, His creatures, very good?
Prideful Acts Cause Contention, Not Peace
Proverbs 13:10. Jesus loves us so much that He has given us peace for all that ask Him of it. Strife and contention does not come from God. All contention comes from pride and selfishness (Proverbs 13:10, "Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom."). Prideful people are out of harmony with everyone around them.
A Self-Centered Person Glories In Himself And Not In God
Jeremiah 9:23. When a person is centered only on themselves they do not realize that God is in control and that they need to be centered on God. God created this world, not us. We have forgotten God when we glory in our own wisdom, might, and riches. We deceive ourselves when we think we can rely on ourselves.
God Help Us by Giving Us Wisdom
Luke 21:15. Many people seek wisdom, but wisdom only comes from God because God is truth. It amazes me how wise the disciples were after Jesus left them and the Holy Ghost came into their lives. Not much more than forty days after Peter denied Jesus at His crucifixion, Peter had the knowledge and wisdom to bring over 3,000 souls to Christ.
Pride Is Present When You Are Not Free Of Strife
Proverbs 13:10. Proverbs 13:10 says "Only by pride cometh contention..." When you think about it this truth is so obvious. It is saying that pride is the source of all arguments, strife, contention, war, fights, and bickering.
Seek Counsel for Sins Like Adultery
Proverbs 19:20. As adultery creates so much confusion in marriage relationships, a person should seek God’s direction and receive ministerial counseling to find out what God should have for them to do (Proverbs 19:20, “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end”).
