Jesus Tells Us that the Resurrection Means that He has the Power and Authority Over Our Lives
Before Jesus’ resurrection from the dead he revealed to the world the meaning and significance of his power of resurrection. In the final judgment, it is Jesus’ power over death that results in either we receiving the resurrection of life (eternal life) or the resurrection of damnation (eternal death).
See Scripture Commentary: In John 5:29 Jesus tells us of the resurrection of life and the resurrection of damnation. Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead proved his power over death.
Jesus Tells Us that the Resurrection Means that He Can and Will Give Life to the Dead
Before Jesus rose from the dead, he preached the meaning of his resurrection. He told his followers that his resurrection would be a sign that he had the power to provide everlasting life to all that would believe.
See Scripture Commentary: In John 6:40 Jesus tells us that he was sent by God so that we may have everlasting life.
Jesus Tells Us that the Resurrection Means Salvation to the Faithful
Even before Jesus died and was resurrected, he identified himself closely with the raising of people from the dead. He taught the people that the faithful would be saved and resurrected in the last days.
See Scripture Commentary: In John 11:25 Jesus tells us that he is the resurrection and the life.
Jesus Tells Us that the Resurrection Means There is Hope of Eternal Life
Whoever believes in Jesus shall never die. Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead proved his power over death. Jesus’ subsequent death and resurrection further proved his power of resurrection as well as proved his power is final in that it results in life eternal.
See Scripture Commentary: In John 11:26 Jesus tells us to believe in him and we will never die.
Jesus Shows Us That the Resurrection Means He Has the Power to Overcome Death
Jesus well before his own resurrection told everyone that he had the power to overcome death and he also demonstrated his power by raising people from the dead. His intention was and still is to get our intention that he, the Son of God, has power over death, and if we believe in him we will be saved and given the gift of eternal life.
See Scripture Commentary: In John 11:43 Jesus, in a loud voice, told Lazarus who was dead to come forth.
