Bible History Summary of King Solomon. King Solomon (circa 990 BC – 931 BC) was the 3nd and king of Israel. His life is told in the books of 2nd Samuel, 1st Kings, and 1st Chronicles. He was the final king of an united Israel before the split into the northern Kingdom of Israel and the southern Kingdom of Judah. He was the builder of the first temple in Jerusalem. He had great wisdom, wealth, and power, but ultimately sinned due to idolatry. His many wives influenced him where he turned to idolatry and away from God. The Times of Kings Saul, David, and Solomon

Solomon Is Born. After the death of their first son, Bathsheba bares a second son for David, Solomon – 1000 BC. Scripture: 2nd Samuel 12:24

Solomon Named King and Builder of the Temple. David gathers the people together and names Solomon as his successor who would build the temple – 970 BC. Scripture: 1st Chronicles 28:5-6
