Lazy People – A Life Style, Not a Temporary Condition.

A lazy person’s schedule is so busy doing nothing that they have no time to do anything. God did not give us resources and a life just to do nothing. Lazy people need to wake up and change their life style. Proverbs 6:10 describes a lazy person’s useless, but busy lifestyle.

Proverbs 6:10, “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:”

Lazy People are Irritating.

Laziness causes friction in human relationships. People get irritated when lazy people are not pulling their weight. Lazy people value not working and “getting over” more than any relationship. Proverbs 10:26 advises us that lazy people are irritating.

Proverbs 10:26, “As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.”

Lazy People are Prideful.

In today’s society, many of us have become prideful and lazy in our “abundance of idleness”. Living off our wealth, we are prideful and lazy and do not have time for others or God. From God’s perspective we are in sin when we are prideful or lazy. Ezekiel 16:49 describes lazy people as both lazy and prideful … describes lazy people as both lazy and prideful.

Ezekiel 16:49, “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.”

Lazy People Are No Better Than Thieves and Vandals.

Lazy people take up resources, they consume resources, but they do not add any value to what God has given them. From God’s perspective they are waster, and destroyers of the things of God. From God’s perspective they are no different from thieves and vandals that just take and destroy, but never give of themselves. Proverbs 18:9 advises us that lazy people are wasters and destroyers.

Proverbs 18:9, “He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.”

Lazy People Never Move Forward in Life.

Sometimes lazy people give us the illusion that they are being productive members of society. They show or talk about many activities, but the problem is that there is no progress or results. Proverbs 26:14 advises us how lazy people can show activity and not make any progress.

Proverbs 26:14, “As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.”

Lazy People Think That They Have All the Answers.

Lazy people do not seek God for direction in their lives, nor do they seek advice from others. Lazy people think that they have all the answers. Proverbs 26:16 advises us that lazy people are conceited people.

Proverbs 26:16, “The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render reason.”
