Oldness
Continuing Grace comes not from our works but from Jesus
2 Timothy 1:9. It is easy to be deceived that our good works will take care of all things to include our eternal salvation. This is faulty thinking because God is our Creator and ultimately we are governed by His purpose and saved by His grace and not by our works. It is our faith and love in our Lord Jesus Christ that assures us of continuing grace and eternal salvation.
Definition of Christian Redemption – The Old Man is Dead
Romans 6:6. The first part of the definition of Christian redemption is that redemption is the end, the death, to the controlling power of sin in our lives. Our lives no longer need to be controlled by sin. If we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and Savior, our old man, our corruptible sin nature, is crucified with him. Jesus’ death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection proved that sin and death do not have control of us.
Old Man, New Man
How did Jesus change our relationship with God? Do I have a sin nature? How do I become a new man (or woman) in Christ? Why is it so important?
Romans 6:6. These questions are key for new believers as well as all Christians. All of us must understand that by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become dead to sin and the new man is alive in us. This is the start of our new relationship with God and the sanctification process of the new man in us. We are no longer servants of sin.
