The Power Of Darkness Is Made Manifest In Death.

There is a power of darkness. It is made manifest by the power of sin and death. Hebrews 2:14 advises us that the devil has the power of death that Jesus defeated on the Cross.

Hebrews 2:14, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”

The Power Of Darkness Is Limited.

The Devil’s power is limited and only lasts for a season or even an hour as with Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. Luke 22:53 Jesus talks about the power of darkness.

Luke 22:53, “When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

Jesus Delivers Us From The Power Of Sin And Death.

If we are without God, the power of sin and death will rule over our lives. Only Jesus can deliver us from the power of darkness that is in this world. Jesus demonstrated through His resurrection that He has absolute power over sin and death. Colossians 1:13 advises us that Jesus has delivered us from the power of darkness.

Colossians 1:13, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”

Cast Off the Works and Power of Darkness.

Too many of us are gripped by the power of darkness. The evil that we do is evident that we are under the power of darkness. Our works are full of strife, envy, immoral living, and focused on fulfilling the works of the flesh. Romans 13:12 advises to cast off the works of darkness.

Romans 13:12, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”
