Purpose of Government - A Biblical Perspective
Summary. God tells us through the Bible that the purpose of government is to encourage people to live right. Starting with Noah, God began to provide mankind a framework and purpose of government. With Moses receiving the Ten Commandments, God has provided Government the framework of laws to encourage people to live right. Most governments' laws today are based on many, if not all, the original Ten Commandments. The Bible also provides guidance that Governments should provide swift justice. They must be fair to individuals, but governments must be swift as not to encourage crime and “evil works”.
