Resisting Temptation By Seeking God’s Guidance.

Success in resisting temptation is based on our relationship and obedience to God. We all have our weaknesses, but the Bible tells us that there is no temptation that we cannot resist with God’s help. 1st Corinthinians 10:13 advises us that God will always make a way for us to escape temptation.

1st Corinthians 10:13, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Resisting Temptation Through Vigilance and Prayer.

In the Bible, Jesus tells us how to resist temptation. We must resist temptation by vigilance and prayer. We must always be vigilant and seeking a closer relationship with God. In Luke 22:46 Jesus tells His disciples to pray and be vigilant.

Luke 22:46, “And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.”

Resisting Temptation By Asking God for Deliverance.

By us earnestly praying the Lord’s Prayer we can resist temptation. The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 provides us a prayer that we can use to ask God to deliver us from temptation. Matthew 6:13 advises us to ask God to lead us away from temptation and deliver us from evil.

Matthew 6:13, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
