Matthew 3:11. The word baptize for both the phrases “baptized in water” and “baptized in the Holy Spirit” can be defined as “to cleanse spiritually; initiate or dedicate by purifying.” With water baptism the new Christian is going through the rite of baptism to signify that a person has repented of their sins and they are now a new creature in Christ.

Luke 24:49. Jesus in Luke 24:49 tells us as Christians that we must wait on the Holy Spirit to baptize us (Luke 24:49, “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high”). Jesus had promised and taught on the Holy Spirit many times during His ministry on Earth.

Acts 8:339. The Holy Spirit has the power to physically move people great distances. In Acts 8:39 the Holy Spirit transported Philip many miles after Philip had ministered to the eunuch (Acts 8:39, “And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing”).

Luke 4:18. The power of the Holy Spirit is provided to us for a purpose. The Holy Spirit's power is given to us to do good works. Being under the power of the Holy Spirit is a wondrous feeling that empowers us to do great things.

Matthew 10:20. The Holy Spirit is on this Earth to guide us in speech and action. Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit is received in them and dwells in them. The Holy Spirit then acts as our guide in speech and in action. All we need to do is to yield to the Holy Spirit.

John 14:17, The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. As Christians, the Holy Spirit resides in us to comfort us, to guide us, and to be the Spirit of Truth in our lives. The Holy Spirit enables us to discern what is true and what is not.

John 15:26. The Holy Spirit is foremost a divine comforter to Christians. After Jesus' ministry on Earth, the Holy Spirit was sent to comfort Christians. As the Comforter and the divine Spirit of Truth, he continues today to bear witness of Jesus and anoint Christians to spread the gospel throughout the world.

Proverbs 16:32. All of us have trouble controlling our anger at one time or another. The way to stop anger is to control it within and not just suppress it from displaying outwardly to others.

Proverbs 14:29. Anger is not necessarily bad, but it does need to be controlled. Proverbs 14:29 says, “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” Whenever we get angry at someone or something, we need to look at the source of the anger.

Summary of Acts 2. On the day of Pentecost, 120 of Jesus' closest followers were filled with the Holy Ghost and began speaking tongues. Many visitors to Jerusalem heard the Christian speaking in the tongues of many nations. Some of the Jews mocked them saying that the Christians were drunk.

1 John 4:2. The Bible is very plain when it comes to giving us advice on determining the validity of visions and revelations. Not every prophet, proclaimer, sage, soothsayer, dream, vision, and so on are of God and are speaking the truth about the future. There is a simple test to determine if someone or a vision is of God or not.

Bible Summary. Intercession is where we pray to God for the sake of another person or for a corporate cause. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us and helps us in our weaknesses. Mark 14:38. One example of human weakness is our physical weakness. We may have good intentions to do something, but our body will give up on us. This is what happened to Peter, James, and John in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus had commanded them to sit and watch for Him while He prayed. This was a dark hour for Jesus.

Bible Summary. The Bible says that we can have the same spirit in us as the Spirit of Him that raised Jesus from the dead. The resurrection spirit can bring something that is dead to life. As Christians we have the same resurrection spirit in us that raised Jesus from the dead. Through a close relationship with God, we can use this resurrection power to turn death into life.
