The Spiritual Dead Can Be Brought Back To Life.
In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus illustrates to us how the spiritual dead can be brought back to life. In this parable the prodigal son leaves his father and uses a portion of his inheritance for “riotous living”. At some point the son acknowledged his sin and turned away from his “riotous living” and returned to his father. Luke 15:32 tells us of the father’s joy and how his son was dead and is now alive.
Luke 15:32, “It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.”
Christ Can Resurrect the Spiritually Dead.
Christ is the answer for us who fall short of the glory of God and who are spiritually dead. Christ is who has come to give us light and eternal life. It is only through Christ that we can be saved. All we have to do is accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and be dead no more. Ephesians 5:14 tells us to arise from the dead, and Christ shall give us light.
Ephesians 5:14, “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
The Gospel Is the Remedy To Overcome a Spiritual Death.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is preached specifically for those who are spiritually dead. Jesus came on this Earth to redeem fallen man, the spiritually dead, and offer eternal life to those who accept Jesus as their Lord and savior. 1st Peter 4:6 affirms that the gospel is preached to those who are dead that they may live according to God in the spirit.
1st Peter 4:6, “For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.”
The Holy Spirit in Us Keeps Us From Spiritual Death.
When we are separated from God, we experience spiritual death. By receiving the Holy Spirit into our hearts, we are no longer separated from God because the Holy Spirit is God, God’s Spirit. Though we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, there is a way for the Holy Spirit to reside in us. The way is through Jesus Christ. If we repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our savior, we can receive God’s spirit in us. 1st John 4:13 tells us we are joined with God when he had given us his Spirit.
1st John 4:13, “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”
