Prosperity and Wisdom Does Not Equal Godliness

1 Timothy 6:5. Many of us to include Christians can caught up in worldly goods and worldly knowledge and think it is a form of Godliness.(2 Timothy 3:5). First, godliness is about truth and not about worldly knowledge. Godliness is about speaking God's truth and not about winning arguments. There are many smart people in the world, but many of them are far from godliness. Also, godliness is about spiritual things and not about Earthly trappings. God may have blessed us with wealth. We may give to the poor and pay tithes, but that does not make us godly. We cannot buy godliness.

Do Not Rely On Yourself, Rely On God

Luke 15:17. God desires for all of us to rely on Him, but it is our choice. The prodigal son had a choice to serve his father or squander his inheritance. He chose for a while to squander his inheritance. Once his money ran out and he was hungry, He started to value his relationship with his father. He saw that his father's hired servants had enough bread to eat versus he, his son, was hungry (Luke 15:17, "And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!").

Do Not Rely On God And Go Hungry Like The Young Lions. Raah!

Psalms 34:10. Who is better equipped to take on the challenges of this world? A sheep with a good shepherd? Baah! Or a young lion?

Difference Between Love And Lust - Lust Only Cares For Itself

1 John 3:17. A key difference between love and lust is that lust only cares for itself (self love). Lust always focuses on an object to fulfill its desire. This object can be a woman, money, a car, a dress, fried chicken - anything. From lust's perspective its object of affection is only there to fulfill. Lust has no compassion for what it lusts for. Lust only shows affection until it finishes using the object of its desire. Lust is a selfish taker that is only concerned with fulfilling its own needs. Lust and love do not co-exist.

Definition Of Greed - Never Satisfied

Isaiah 56:11. Another key component of the definition of greed is that you are never satisfied with what you accumulate. The sin nature in all of us craves for more and more. If we have two cars, we want three. If we own a house, we want to own another one. If we have a wife, we want a mistress. If we were not constraint by our economic situation, most of us would continue to accumulate goods and would never stop.
