Perfection
Spiritual Perfection Is Love, Without Fear
1 John 4:18. From a Christian perspective, spiritual perfection is based on love - love of God and love of people. This perfect love is "agape" love and is defined as unmerited favor. This Godly love casts out the fear in our lives and leads the way for us to be spiritually perfect. God was the first to show us this perfect type of love and He desires for us to show this perfect love to Him and others. God is love and He is perfect. He desires for us to be the same way, too. If we truly believe that he loves us, we can confidently love others in this perfect love.
Spiritual Perfection Is God Dwelling in Us
1 John 4:12. Most people have an inner desire to be perfect. The only true way to be spiritually perfect is to have God in you. God is the only one that is truly perfect. He can make you perfect, if you will allow Him to dwell in you. We have to allow Him to be the center of our lives. If we follow His commandments of loving Him and loving others, God will come to dwell in us perfectly. This is the only way for spiritual perfection in our lives - by God dwelling in us. God is love. God is perfect.
Definition of Perfection - Through Faith and Good Works We Can Be Made Perfect
James 2:22. The definition of perfection includes "Completely suited for a particular purpose - accurately reproducing an original". This is how God desires for us to be perfect. He desires for us to exercise our faith in his promises by doing good works to become like Him. To reach perfect holiness it is key that we have a deep faith in God's promises: Jesus is our Savior, eternal life, and so on. The good works to exercise in our faith include any acts of love such as helping people, encouraging them, loving them unconditionally, and so on.
Definition of Perfection - Mankind Can Be Perfect in God
2 Corinthians 7:1. The definition of perfection includes "completely suited for a particular purpose - completely corresponding to a description, standard, or type". From a Christian perspective, this definition of perfection means that perfection is all about us being holy. God has made us for His purpose to be holy and worship Him. Through the Bible He has given us His promises and standards to guide us in our daily lives. His Bible teaches us how to be without sin (to be obedient). He desires for us to line up with His standards and to be perfect and holy.
Definition of Perfection - Only God is Perfect
Deuteronomy 32:4. The definition of perfection includes "Being without defect or blemish: a perfect specimen". This definition of perfection defines God as well as Jesus who as a God-man walked on this Earth to show us His perfection. God is our Rock that provides us the perfect foundation of what is right and wrong. He is the standard of perfection and the source of truth and righteousness (Deuteronomy 32:4, "He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he").
Definition of Perfection - Perfection is Without Sin
Ezekiel 28:15. The definition of perfection means "lacking nothing essential to the whole; complete of its nature or kind". From a Christian perspective, the definition of perfection means being without sin. The Bible tells us that sin in its most basic form is being disobedient to God. The Bible tells us that only through our faith in Jesus Christ can we obediently yield to God and be without sin - be perfect. Jesus is perfect. When Jesus walked on this Earth in human form He was without sin. He was perfect.
Discovering God’s Divine Nature
1 John 4:17, God’s nature can be summed up in two words: love and righteousness. As followers of Jesus, we are here to discover God's love and righteousness. We discover God through prayer, fasting, study, and living a life in fellowship with God. Through us seeking God continuously, His righteousness and love is made perfect in us.
What Is The Love That God Desires From Us?
1 John 2:5. By us accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God gives us the spirit of power, love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.") He has given us a part of him. He asks for us to grow in love of Him and our fellow man.
An Awakened Conscience to Walk in the Will of God
Romans 12:2. If we earnestly hear God's Truth, our mind and conscience are renewed continually. We are now awakened to walk in what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God").
Jesus Came To Awaken Our Conscience
John 8:7. For many of us our conscience is asleep. Thank God for Jesus Christ that His actions help bring conviction and awaken our conscience. An example of Jesus bringing conviction to our conscience is best demonstrated with the stoning of the prostitute as told in the gospel of John. He told them to cast the first stone if their life was without sin.
