Trusting Yourself Versus Trusting God.

God’s plan is for us to trust completely in Him for all of our needs. This is the Christian definition of trust. He desires us to continually acknowledge Him and stay in close fellowship in Him. Proverbs 3:5 advises us to trust in God and not trust our own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Trust Definition – Trust God, Not Things.

From a Christian perspective, the definition of trust means trusting God and not other things. Many people put their trust in wealth and the promises of wealth over God. Psalm 49:6 tells about folly of trusting in riches.

Psalm 49:6, “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches.”


Trust Definition – Love Truth, Do Not Trust Lies.

Trust is all about relying on the promise of what another person or thing can do (what you think they can do). It is easy to trust in lies because it makes us feel good and gives us false hope. From a Christian perspective, these false promises lead us away from truth and into sin based on disobedience to God. Isaiah 59:4 warns us of the dangers of not seeking truth and speaking lies.
