Our Unbelief In God

Bible Summary. By our actions many us demonstrate our unbelief in God on a daily basis. The Bible tells us that if we are in sin (in disobedience of God) we really do not know God or believe in Him. We demonstrate our unbelief in Him when we value material things over spiritual things. Spiritual things include things such as love, truth, righteousness, and goodness to name a few. Many of us harden our hearts against God because we desire to continue in our sin. It is easy for us to get caught up in our five senses and slip into unbelief that a supernatural God does not exist. God has given us the Bible to help us in our unbelief. God desires for us to have faith in him and value the spiritual things of God. See below for more commentary and scriptures on unbelief in God.

We Have Unbelief In God If We Continue In Sin.

Our sin is evidence to God that we do not know Him or believe in Him. If we continue in our unbelief, God in the end will convict us of our sin, and through His righteousness He will judge us. Key Bible Verse: John 6:8 advises us that sin is evidence of our unbelief in God …

We Have Unbelief In God If We Harden Ourselves Against God’s Word.

When we are in sin we will harden ourselves against God because we desire to continue in our sin. It is our unbelief in God, the God of righteousness and love, that hardens our heart against God and separates us from God. 2nd Kings 17:14 tells of the Israelites hardening their necks in unbelief.

2nd Kings 17:14, “Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.”

No Roots In The Word of God, No Belief in God.

If we are not rooted in God’s word, we will fall away into sin and unbelief. Only through the daily meditation of God’s word can we keep our salvation that Jesus gave to us. Luke 8:13 advises us that unbelief will come to people that are not rooted in God’s Word.

Luke 8:13, “They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.”

Lack of Good Values is a Sign of Unbelief in God.

From a Christian perspective, good values are valuing the things of God. A lack of good values is a sign of having unbelief in God. Godly values are spiritual things such as love, truth, righteousness, and goodness to name a few. When we love material things over the things of God, we are lacking in good values. We have unbelief in God. Romans 1:31 advises us that unbelievers are without good values.

Romans 1:31, “Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:”
