Genesis 2:18, “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
What is God’s Role in a Christian Marriage?
God ordains marriage as evident when he created and brought the woman Eve to Adam. He sanctioned their physical and spiritual union. It was not good for Adam to be alone. It was good for Adam and Eve to be as one in a loving, lifelong relationship. God’s role has not change in marriage today. God approves and sanctions loving, lifelong marriage between a man and a woman. The rest of humanity would come from this union, this marriage, of Adam and Eve. Genesis 2:22 tells how God made woman and brought the woman to Adam so that he would not be alone.
Genesis 2:22, “And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.”
What is God’s Guidance Concerning Christian Marriage?
With Adam and Eve, God first revealed the special relationship of man and his wife, the institute of marriage. Man and wife are to be in unity, both physically and spiritually. They are suppose to cleave to each other where they are both dependent upon each other as well as mutually supporting each other. They were of one flesh as Eve was created out of man’s rib. Genesis 2:24 advises us that a man shall leave his parents and cleave to his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
